The short version
Privacy
This is a reading app, not a data business. It collects the minimum needed to work, keeps as much as possible on your own device, and never sells anything about you.
Reading progress
Your progress, streak, and which chapters you have finished are stored locally in your browser, not on a server. Clearing your browser storage clears them.
Cross-device sync
Sync is optional and off unless you turn it on. When you do, your progress is associated with a random code that you generate and control, not with a name, email, or account.
Analytics
Aggregate, privacy-respecting analytics count page views to show which chapters get read. They use no cookies and do not build a profile of you or follow you across other sites.
The weekly email
If you subscribe to the Field Report, your email is used only to send that digest and you can unsubscribe at any time. If you prefer no email at all, the same digest is available as an RSS feed.
